Homestead Kitchen & Bar

Jeff Svenvold, a Houstonian by way of Montana, has always had a passion for food and dreams of owning a restaurant. He didn’t think it was in the cards for him, and decided to pursue graduate school instead when his father, and future Homestead business partner, stopped him in his tracks.

“Why wait?” He said, “Life is short and tomorrow isn’t promised.”

He took his father’s words to heart, changed courses on his entire life; a few conversations and mind-set shift later, he took action. Naturally, with family roots of ranching in Montana, he decided to name this venture “Homestead”. It’s current, but not trendy. Detailed, but not perfection. It’s cozy, not kitschy. It’s lively, not loud. It would be driven by comfort, diversity, and inclusion. It would be a home away from home for all Houstonians alike and different. It would pull cuisine inspiration from all the best flavors in the third biggest city in the country.

Homestead. Authentically Houston, all day long.

From the moment you walk in, you’re immediately greeted with Texas hospitality. Whether a quick coffee before work or a long dinner with fresh- made margaritas – we’re here for you from morning to night. At Homestead, show-stopping brunch is an everyday occasion complete with over-the-top Bloody Marys and Irish Coffee. Hold your next working lunch on the patio with hand-pressed tortillas, brisket, and a beer (or two). Homestead is just like our city: warm, welcoming, and always has a seat at the table for someone new. We like to think good restaurants make good neighbors.
